Valentines Day

Well I've never been a gal who needs a lot going on for Valentines Day. In fact I'm quite content to spend today home with my awesome little family. But one can't really help but think about loved ones on a day like today. I was reading some posts on my babycenter.com birthclub post board about husbands who don't help at all with kids, who spend 5 out of 7 nights of the week away from home either playing basketball or some other activity or hanging out at the bar. Being the independent type of gal that I am, my first thought is why the heck are these women putting up with such things??? But my second and more important thought is how lucky I am to have not only a wonderful husband, but a true partner in this adventure. Sure, he doesn't know how to (properly) load a dishwasher, he for some reason piles his dirty clothes on the floor 4 feet from the hamper and accidently locked me out of my own car twice last week (and out of the house once while I was preggers) - but he not only helps me out with things I ask him to do, but he actually wants to be involved. He loves me and he loves our children. He fed Meyer a bottle I pumped and slept with him in the recliner last night to give me a break from nursing. He fetches me things all evening long while I have a three week old attached to me - and all without griping!

I love my guy and while I could continue on with a laundry list of great things about him - I wouldn't want his head to get too big! I just hope that he knows that even though I go through little bouts of the crazies right now and perhaps am a little more cranky than usual I love him and feel so grateful that we found each other.

Happy Valentines Day!

wowza!

Well it's been a while since I've posted anything. Things, as you might imagine, have been a little busy! Parker and Meyer are doing great! Meyer is sleeping pretty darn good at night - he's letting us sleep for some 5 hour stretches - which is awesome - who knew 5 hours of sleep could feel so good. Up until the last two nights he'd been sleeping in his swing - but he's done pretty well in his own crib for two nights now. Now we have to remember that Parker slept in her carseat for a couple of weeks - oh what we will do for some consistant sleep!

Parker celebrated her 4th birthday on the 28th with a party at school. I got out of the hospital the same day - stopped by the house and then headed up to her "school" to be at her party. Maybe overdid things just a bit??? Her Neanie made rice krispie treats - with sprinkles! - for her little party. Thanks Neanie!! Then we had a little family gathering at our house later that evening with pizza and ice cream cake. Yum! My little baby is growing up! This weekend we are continuing the birthday celebration with a party for her friends at Monkey Bizness - a indoor place with all the big inflatable fun stuff. Should be a good time! I don't seem to remember my birthdays being a weeks long event when I was a kiddo - it's amazing what we as parents will do when we feel guilty for having a new baby so close to your first baby's special day!

So, to really make me feel old, my younger brother Andrew (note that I did not say little brother) turned 21 on the 27th (the day inbetween Meyer and Parker's b-days). Wowza! My little brother is legal! Weird.

Last week my mom came back for another stay which was great fun. If you know me and my mom, you know we're not too into being down for long. So we had to do a little shopping while she was here - with the 9 day old baby in tow! Meyer proved to be an excellent shopper - sleeping most of the time and nursing in the the dressing room at Dillards.

This week is pretty much about getting things "under control". My house is shaping up, laundry is getting done, Parker is moving up to the next class at school, we're getting Meyer to sleep in his crib, I need to finish up thank you notes and get out birth announcements. Then next week we're heading out for Meyer's first road trip. Ulysses here we come!
